Cowboy Neal is an energetic six-piece band from Chicago, IL led by multi-instrumentalist, Ian Hammond. Bringing frenetic, diverse performances, their music is inspired by The Talking Heads, Fela Kuti, Frank Zappa, King Crimson, Pom Poko, and black midi. Cowboy Neal has an established presence in the local Chicago scene having performed at many venues, including: Beat Kitchen, Subterranean, Bookclub, The Burlington, and more. In 2018, Ian Hammond sat in withDweezil Zappa’s band at The Vic during their encore. Additionally, he has music-directed numerous sketch comedy shows performed at The Second City and recently sound-designed and performed in a local experimental production of The Rocky Horror Picture Show (The Rocky Experiment) at Chicago’s Greenhouse Theater Center to celebrate its 50th anniversary.
